Why do you use Comfrey Leaf Extract in your skincare products?Updated 2 years ago
The controversy regarding comfrey is the PAs (pyrrolizidine alkaloids) in the comfrey. These are found in higher concentration in the root compared to the leaf. Our Comfrey Extract used in our products is extracted from the leaf, Symphytum Officinale (Comfrey) Leaf Extract. It is recommended not to internally ingest comfrey, though external use of comfrey is considered relatively safe. Topically, comfrey aids the slowing of wrinkles, reduces inflammation and keeps skin healthy.
Symphytum Officinale (Comfrey) Leaf Extract does rate at a 4 on the EWG scale, though data is still currently limted regarding the safety concerns of the ingredient.
While our formulations are proprietary, in general the percentage of goat milk used in our skincare products is about 1-2%. A product's ingredients list will list products in the order of the highest percentage of volume to the lowest percentage. Anything listed after Caprae Lac (Goat Milk), would be less than 1-2%.
We will certainly pass along your feedback and concerns regarding the use of this ingredient to our Product Development Team! If you have any other questions, please let us know.
