Are your SPF products safe for the environment and the coral reef?Updated 3 months ago

Yes, all of our SPF products are compliant with The Hawaii Reef Compliant Act 104.

The Milk Primer SPF 35, Milk Tint SPF 43 and SPF 15 Lip Creams incorporate the use of mineral based SPF ingredients (non-nano Zinc Oxide) and are reef safe.

The new Hello Sunshine SPF 50 Sunscreen and Solar Milk Clear SPF 50 PA Sunscreen Gel for Face are a broad-spectrum sunscreen and is free of oxybenzone and octinoxate.

The Hawaii Reef Compliant Act 104, in effect as of January 1, 2021, prohibits the sale of sunscreens containing chemicals Oxybenzone, and Octinoxate in Hawaii.

The truth is that no one really knows what is "100% safe" for the coral reefs. But as scientific advancements are made every day, we take them seriously and strive to stay up to date. As Oxybenzone and Octinoxate are two ingredients noted in the new legislation, we have excluded both ingredients from our formulations. We will continue to monitor legislation and new research as it emerges to make sure that we continue to be Kind to the planet.
